About Keeper's Hedge
Hi! We are Keegan and Hannah, the keepers of the hedge. We are honored that you are visiting us and are choosing to support local, seasonal, and sustainable flowers and foliage grown by us.
The natural world has always inspired me. Growing up you could find me outside barefoot exploring everything I could find in my backyard and neighborhood, creating the most magical tales. Spending time outdoors and choosing to see the magic in nature inspires me today. What is growing a flower if not the most magical process ever!
I wanted to start growing flowers because of the power they wield. Not only are flowers essential for pollinators, but I believe they are essential for humanity. They can instantly beautify a space, convey messages of love, sorrow, apology, and peace. Flowers are an extension of language that bring people together like nothing else can. I feel so deep within my soul to bring flowers into the world so these small but mighty moments can take place.
My first memory of experiencing the power of flowers was at my first dance recital at age five. A dear family friend gave me a bundle of red roses. I remember being so shocked that an adult I admired would gift me something so beautiful. I instantly felt seen, important, and loved. I knew at that moment flowers could express more than words could. There have been many times since then where I’ve witnessed the power of flowers take place after I’ve gifted them to my loved ones when words just could not express my feelings.
I am passionate about flowers and the connections they foster for us with each other, and between us and the natural world. It is of the utmost importance for me to grow flowers sustainably with the health of the soil and environment at the forefront. This means growing completely organically, not using herbicides, or pesticides, and limiting the use of plastics and synthetic products. It is important that we farm with nature and not against it, creating a balanced environment.
When I’m not out in the field you can find me knitting in the shade listening to an audio book or trying to convince my husband that we should get sheep.
